Occhio & BORA | Innovative Lighting Solutions for the Modern Workspace

Driven by passion and a commitment to rethinking the kitchen experience, BORA revolutionized cooktop extraction systems. In their newly constructed headquarters and training center in Niederndorf, Austria, BORA sought visionary partners for interior and lighting design — and found a luminous path with Occhio.

Remarkable in Its Simplicity

From the outside, the BORA headquarters blends harmoniously into its natural surroundings. Oversized glass panels, regionally typical larch wood cladding, and a strong modern architectural presence in reinforced concrete — the building appears as if shaped by nature itself.

A Breath of Fresh Air – Indoors

Inside, lighting plays an essential role in the spatial design:

The lounge, kitchen, and dining areas are elegantly illuminated by Mito sospeso luminaires. Suspended at various lengths and in different diameters, the luminaires do not overwhelm but rather infuse the rooms with energy and rhythm.

Finishes in rose gold and matte black add a touch of refined elegance, contrasting beautifully with the raw textures of concrete and natural wooden surfaces.

Forward-Thinking, Yet Feel at Home

Lighting in the BORA building is intelligently programmed to mimic the natural rhythm of daylight. Throughout the day, the color temperature shifts:

  • Morning: a warm 2,700K

  • Midday: peaks at a bright 4,000K

  • Evening: transitions back to 2,700K

This centralized lighting control ensures optimal working conditions around the clock — enhancing focus and performance while adapting to users’ needs.

DALI | Maximum Usability, Seamless Integration

BORA integrates DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) to manage light intensity and color temperature across the entire building. With every luminaire connected to this unified control system, light dynamically evolves throughout the day — synchronized across all devices, mirroring the human circadian rhythm while delivering visual harmony.
