A Dialogue of Light and Culture — An Ode to Eastern Aesthetics
Rooted in the legacy of the Forbidden City and brought to life by renowned international design studio Yabu Pushelberg,
MuLi·MuWai, a premium Chinese lifestyle brand, presents a masterpiece within a nearly 500-year-old siheyuan in Beijing—
a poetic living space where tradition is inherited, art is connected, and technology merges seamlessly with human connection.
This is MuLi·MuWai · The Forbidden City · Yuan Residence.
A Sculpture Stands in Silence at the Threshold
A MuLi sculpture welcomes guests in quiet dignity,
while a nearby metal screen reflects the imagery of the Great Wall—
a visual dialogue between tradition and modernity.
Discreet yet intentional, Occhio spotlights cast focused beams onto curated elements,
preserving the solemn presence of Imperial heritage while transforming static display into a living narrative through light and shadow.
In Adherence to the Philosophy of Harmony Between Humanity and Nature
MuLi·MuWai reinterprets the traditional siheyuan through a modern lens.
From the humble beauty of brick and tile to the vibrant interplay of courtyards and corridors,
the three-entry, four-quadrant layout reveals its essence not through grandeur,
but through spatial balance—a silent conversation between the past and the present.
Second Courtyard – Where Light and Culture Intertwine
Within the main hall, MuLi·MuWai’s signature furniture stands alongside curated relics from the National Palace Museum.
Here, modern design and historic architecture reach a subtle consensus—
a refined celebration where form, function, and heritage meet.
With a Color Rendering Index (CRI) of up to 97, Occhio spotlights reveal the true essence of every surface:
the softness of lacquer, the depth of wood grain, the delicate texture of craftsmanship—
all made visible in natural, flowing light.
Third Courtyard – Light as Poetic Atmosphere
Surrounding the grand hall, the third courtyard becomes a private sanctuary.
Within this tranquil enclosure, MuLi·MuWai · The Forbidden City · Yuan Residence presents a private dining space and a leisure lounge.
The ritual of shared meals around a round table reflects the harmony between traditional family values and spatial design.
Suspended above the table, a composition of Luna pendants casts ripples of warm light.
In the lounge, the Mito largo floor lamp defines intimate zones with light,
while the nearby Luna parete wall fixture echoes softly—
subtly dividing the tea space and dining area, while maintaining an invisible connection.
Light as a Cultural Medium
At MuLi·MuWai · The Forbidden City · Yuan Residence,
light is more than illumination—it is a medium that bridges history and modernity.
Occhio connects German engineering precision with Eastern philosophy,
presenting nothing short of a Renaissance of Light.
